Most of the work shown here has already been sold. Because the work is one of a kind, I do not sell from my website. The best place to aquire my work is at shows listed on my calendar page or through my galleries. To be fair, I do not pre-sell a show but occasionally have work available after a show and am happy to email images.

GREEN, 2010
on back: "live simply, live responsibly and in gratitude"
My ceramic and mixed media figures begin with handbuilding techniques in stoneware clay. I layer the surface with terra sigillata, slips, underglaze, stains, oxides, glazes, underglaze pencils and decals - firing each piece three to five times. Often the work is in pieces after the final firing and is then assembled with wood, metal, fiber and found objects. I often use text to indicate the concept that initiated the work and for the way that language frames the perception of our existence. To avoid cultural context I decorate the head rather than incorporate hair.
